Crawler Dozer Simulator Controls
The crawler dozer simulator is designed to be used with two styles of controls, which provide different levels of realism, portability and cost:
In its simplest configuration, the crawler dozer simulator can be operated with off-the-shelf (USB) PC input devices, which are inexpensive and transportable. A pair of Logitech Attack 3 joysticks are used for machine and blade control. Some dozers are equipped with a right-hand joystick that can be rotated or twisted to control blade angle.
To complete the controls of the dozer simulator, simply add the Logitech G27 racing wheel, which consists of a steering wheel, a three-pedal set and a gear shifter. Only the pedals are used with the dozer simulator, but the G27 can be used with other simulators offered by VISTA, too.
The approximate cost for two Logitech Extreme 3D Pro joysticks and one Logitech G27 racing wheel is US$800.
Replica controls provided a higher level of realism than PC controllers. The dozer simulator can be equipped with two industrial USB joysticks, each with 8 push-buttons. The right joystick controls the blade: raise/lower, tilt and angle. The left joystick controls the direction of motion (forward/neutral/reverse), steering and engine speed. Unit pricing is USD$1,250 or USD$2,500 per pair. An industrial USB-ready 3-pedal unit is available to complete the replica control set-up. Unit pricing for the pedal unit is USD$500.
NEW: Operator Chair
Finally, for a superior simulation experience, VISTA is pleased to offer a new operator chair. It consists of a real operator seat and consoles for the left and right hands, mounted on an industrial platform with casters, as shown here. It integrates industrial joysticks into the right and left armrests and pedals on the floor. As before, you can configure the pedal unit for decelerator and brake pedals, or for a single pedal to control both functions.
